The UPSC Tree Phenotyping Platform is a unique facility to automatically monitor and record growth parameters of trees. The trees are moved around on a conveyor belt and are automatically photographed, watered and fertilized once a day.
The greenhouse is lightened exclusively by artificial LED light. All parameters concerning light, water and nutrients can be adapted following experimental requirements. The platform has the capacity to fit 730 small trees or alternatively 365 bigger trees, up to a height of 2,5 meters. It is located in a separate greenhouse connected to the Wallenberg Greenhouse next to the main UPSC building.
The platform was built within the project “UPSC Forest Biology and Biotechnology”, granted 2016 by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation and was officially commissioned and inaugurated in October 2019.
Booking procedure for the phenotyping platform
The phenotyping platform is only available to people working at UPSC. Free space on the platform will be announced within UPSC. People at UPSC can suggest experimental material to be included in the planned run. The final decision about platform usage will be made by the responsible staff.
